The SQL Server Database Administrator will be part of our global IT Services team in Pune.

The Role: -

Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager based in India, the SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for the daily management of a wide range of database environments. This is an operational and project-based role; encompassing the design, delivery, and run of production systems. The successful candidate will be responsible to provide primary DBA support for application databases, including space monitoring and managing security, backup and recovery, performance tuning, and database refresh processes.

Job Profile

The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support physical database administration including performance management, security, installations, upgrades, patches, backup, recovery, space management, performance tuning, and capacity planning
  • Ensure that all databases’ environments are deployed, maintained, and managed via proactive monitoring of performance and capacity planning of RDBMS
  • Maintain backup and recovery process, including disaster recovery performance and tuning of database and application
  • Managing database backup and recovery
  • Managing database security, roles, and profiles
  • Ensure data requirements have been identified, design is fully normalized, and the database complies with industry best practices and strict security requirements
  • Participating in design sessions with application engineers and will work closely with business analysts, who develop the business and software specifications for project objectives
  • Supporting the critical data and content migration teams will also be a significant part of the job
  • Part of on-call support to maintain 7x24 coverage of the database environment
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
Skills And Qualifications
  • 5+ years of MS SQL Server Administration experience required managing versions 2012 to 2019
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups restores, and recovery models
  • Experience implementing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Flexible, team player, “get-it-done” personality
  • Ability to organize and plan work independently
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
Preferred
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in Oracle or Mongo DB will be an advantage
  • MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus
