Data Ventures (DV)
We are a team akin to a nimble startup incubated within Walmart, building the best in class data products for our customers that provide actionable insights on the what, the why and the how of a retailers omni channel 360 performance directly improving their bottom line growth.
The senior machine learning engineer will play a lead technical role in architecting scalable end-to-end data science solutions that are closely tied to business outcomes for our various DV products. This is a role that combines machine learning leadership, organizational ability, technical strength, product focus and business understanding.
Position Responsibilities:
A Machine Learning Engineer is responsible for supporting build of scalable end-to-end data science solutions for our data products.
- Work closely with data engineers, data analysts, data scientists and application developers to help build ML- and statistics-driven data quality and continuous data monitoring workflows
- Solve business problems by scaling advanced Machine Learning algorithms and complex statistical models on large volumes of data
- Own the MLOps lifecycle, from data monitoring to refactoring data science code to building robust model monitoring workflows for model lifecycle management
- Demonstrate strong thought-leadership and consult with product and business stakeholders to build, scale and deploy holistic machine learning solutions after successful prototyping.
- Follow industry best practices, stay up to date with and extend the state of the art in machine learning research and practice, drive innovation by contributing towards publications and patents.
- Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
Position Requirements:
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of the foundations of machine learning and statistics and has made core contributions to the area in practice.
- Expertise in web service standards and related patterns (REST, gRPC)
- Expertise in distributed in-memory computing technologies
- Solid experience working with state-of-the-art supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms on real-world problems
- Strong Python coding skills
- Experience with Big Data and analytics in general leveraging technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and MapReduce; Ability to work in a big data ecosystem - expert in SQL/Hive and ability to work with Spark.
- Strong ability on refactoring data science code and has worked with data scientists in developing ML solutions.
- Experience playing the role of full-stack data scientist and taking solutions to production.
- Experience developing proper metrics instrumentation in software components, to help facilitate real-time and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring.
- Educational qualifications should be preferably in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a related area.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear & concise way, to different audiences.
- A team player with good work ethics

Additional Qualifications:
- Good to have experience in areas such as computer vision, forecasting, real-time analytics, conversational AI assistants
- Knowledge of Linux fundamentals and experience using shell scripting
- Knowledge of advanced Kubernetes concepts and resources (memory/CPU limits, node taints, PodDisruptionBudget, annotations/labels, etc.)
- Experience using Kubernetes cloud offering (EKS/GKE/AKS) or on-prem Kubernetes cluster
- Experience in scaling infrastructure to support high-throughput data-intensive applications
